Applications
Finned tubes are used to enhance heat transfer efficiency in various applications by increasing the surface area in contact with fluids. They are commonly employed in heat exchangers, power plants, the oil and gas industry, chemical processing, and air heaters and coolers. By improving heat exchange, finned tubes contribute to better performance and energy savings across these industrial and commercial applications.
L Type
Property | Description |
---|---|
Design | An L shaped fin aligns flush to the inner tube base increasing the contact point and heat exchanging efficiency |
Key Factors | Each fin is aligned adjacent to the next with no overlap. Heat transfer is higher however at the expense of lesser protection of the inner tube. |
LL Type
Property | Description |
---|---|
Design | An LL shaped Fin aligns flush to the base of the adjacent fin increasing protection on the inner tube |
Key Factors | Each fin is aligned adjacent to the next with an overlap. Heat transfer is lower however at the expense of the increased protection of the inner tube. |
KL Type
Property | Description |
---|---|
Design | An KL shaped fin is similar in design to a basic L Shape fin however has undergone knurling in order to increase the strength of bond for use in extreme conditions. |
Key Factors | Each fin is aligned adjacent to the next with no overlap the knurling allows for a strengthen contact bond between fin and tube. Heat transfer is higher however at the expense of lesser protection of the inner tube. |
G Type
Property | Description |
---|---|
Design | The G type design is a popular fin design which involves the process of winding a strip of titanium around a grooved base tube. There is no additional coverage of the inner tube allowing for maximum heat exchange |
Key Factors | Each fin strip is aligned perpendicular to the inner tube. Heat transfer is at its maximum higher however at the expense of lesser protection of the inner tube. |
Extruded
Property | Description |
---|---|
Design | An extruded shaped fin is where the fins are separate from the inner tube and manufactured by extrusion from a base tubing. Heat exchange efficiency is minimal with protection of the inner tube at a maximum. |
Key Factors | Heat transfer is minimal at the expense of maximum protection of the inner tube. |
